“Haannnncocksss Giifffffts.” I can still hear my grandmother’s voice speaking these words, as she would answer the phone at her gift shop in Jasper, Texas. She stocked gifts, house wares, and furnishings. My mom grew up in this shop, and it is where I spent my summers as a child.

With her voice still singing in my ears, I have come to realize that I too have an affinity for things shared, things made especially for, and things or times to cherish. This inspires my artistic practice of working with domestic objects, social contexts, memories, associations and art in social spaces. Wherever I work, my goal is to become involved with and share with the social aspects, people, and elements native to that environment and incorporate them into my practice as an artist.
